Shorewood, WI

Curated Craftsman

Tucked into Shorewood, this 1923 home carries the charm of an English Craftsman cottage, with original woodwork and layered architectural detail intact. The design honors that history while introducing a more personal point of view, guided by the client’s collection of vintage French art posters. Their influence is felt throughout, from the living room’s richly patterned rug to the wallpaper that extends across the ceiling and into the adjacent sunroom, creating a sense of continuity.

Original wood elements ground the home, allowing more expressive moments to feel intentional rather than overwhelming. The staircase was reworked for improved flow and finished with a tailored plaid runner, while the ensuite renovation brings a refined, playful edge through a custom plaid-tiled shower. The result is a home that feels both rooted and distinctly individual, balancing English cottage character with a curated European sensibility.
