It’s beginning to look like cocktails! Kick off the holiday season by inviting your friends and family over for holiday drinks and snacks. Having a bar cart is the easiest way to entertain guests while waiting for the Christmas dinner. It can instantly add a touch of class and fun during the occasion. Whether you are a wine lover or a hot cocoa fanatic, we are sharing how to decorate a bar cart for the holidays!

Bar Cart or Bar Cabinet?
There are so many varieties of bar carts to choose from that allow you to play with how you can display bottles and decor. If you do not have a bar cart, or don’t have the space for one, you can get creative with what you have in your own home! For example, you can use wall shelves, or you can use a cabinet as we did!
First Things First, Greenery
Let’s start with greenery as the base on the bar cart – you can use artificial or real greenery. A simple bunch of anything colorful will make a space come alive. For the holiday season, we recommend using greenery like pine garland or a mini Christmas tree.
Add Decor
Start with one big item or statement piece then work out from there. Don’t forget to add and layer in different heights to keep the eyes moving. You can add decor pieces to the space like small ceramic Christmas trees, a vase with dried flowers/branches, napkins or towels, and glasses. Complete the look with an ice bucket, which keeps guests out of the kitchen and in the main party space.
Make sure to stock the shelves with your favorite spirits and tools.
Tools
Having the proper tool for the job is a nice touch when you have guests over. Here’s what you should have handy:
- Double jigger – So you can accurately measure your booze. Check out our favorite here!
- Bottle opener – For guests who opt for beer or cider.
- Knife – Use the blade to slice fruit and the pronged end to spear olives, cherries, and other cocktail garnishes.
- Cocktail Stirrer Spoon – Mix and stir your drinks effortlessly until they are smooth
What to Drink?
You don’t want to be stuck at the bar cart mixing all night! We recommend making two cocktails large enough for a crowd with different base spirits and flavor profiles that guests will be able to choose from. If you do not drink or want to make this kid-friendly you can create a hot cocoa bar or a coffee bar!
